MONTGOMERY – The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) has partnered with Montgomery Academy (MA) for the school’s 6th Annual STEAMfest, a fun-filled educational event aimed to inspire the leaders of tomorrow.
STEAMfest is a free, come-and-go, public event hosted by Montgomery Academy that celebrates science, technology, engineering, art and math. Organizations from around the state, including representatives from ALEA, will be on hand at the school’s Hill Campus, located at 1550 Perry Hill Road in Montgomery, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, with exhibits and activities.
“The Montgomery Academy is committed to providing access to these critical areas, not only for our own students, but to our broader community, as well,” said Dinah McLemore with Montgomery Academy. “What started as a small endeavor has blossomed into a wonderful and educational partnership between MA, the community and invested stakeholders. We are thrilled to have the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency as a partner once again this year to provide students with a hands-on experience and educational opportunities.”
ALEA Secretary Hal Taylor said, “We are truly honored to be part of this exciting and fun event, which allows the Agency to interact with young students and provide insight into how STEAM fields are utilized in law enforcement. Technology is a vital tool that we use on a daily basis at ALEA. Advanced technological equipment can reduce manpower shortages, increase officer safety, assist with missing persons and offer efficient methods for documenting and recreating crime and crash scenes.”
Members of ALEA’s Aviation Unit, Recruiting Team and the State Bureau of Investigation’s (SBI) Drone Unit will be on site with a drone and a static display of one of the Agency’s helicopters and patrol vehicles. To learn more about ALEA and its various divisions, please visit www.alea.gov.
