SUMTER COUNTY -- On Friday, Nov. 19, a Trooper assigned to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division was assaulted while attempting to execute an arrest of a suspect. ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has opened an investigation into the incident. The Trooper was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the incident and is currently recovering. The suspect, identified as Randy Lee Wade, 57, a black male, 5’ 11’’, weight 135 pounds of Sumter County is currently at large and is considered armed and extremely dangerous, if you have any information concerning his whereabouts, please contact the Tuscaloosa Highway Patrol Post at 205-553-5531 or call 334-676-7250.
Nothing further is available as the investigation is ongoing. Once complete, the findings will be turned over to the Sumter County District Attorney’s Office.
