The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) extends the FMCSA CDL Waiver- 3.24.20 in response to the continuing COVID-19 Emergency for States, CDL Holders, CLP Holders, and Interstate Drivers Operating Commercial Motor Vehicles.
The FMCSA CDL Waiver- 3.24.2020, set to expire on June 30, 2020, has been extended. This additional extension becomes effective for the period beginning 12:01 a.m. on July 1, 2020 and continues through 11:59 p.m. on September 30, 2020. It applies to CDL or CLP holders whose commercial driver license and/or medical certification was valid on February 29, 2020 and expired on or after March 1, 2020. (This excludes medical certifications issued for less than 90 days.) Drivers must carry a paper copy of their expired medical certificate to provide proof the expiration date was on or after March 1, 2020.
If a CDL/CLP holder receives or has received a “NOTIFICATION OF THE CANCELLATION OF YOUR COMMERCIAL DRIVER LICENSE and/or DRIVING PRIVILEGE” for Failure to Provide Required CDL Medical Certification, which expires during the period of March 1, 2020 through September 30, 2020, please disregard. Due to the FMCSA extending FMCSA CDL Waiver- 3.24.20, ALEA is granting another 120 days from the already extended expiration dates to renew any CDL or CLP driver license and/or submit an updated medical certification.
