MONTGOMERY -- Alabama State Troopers investigated three traffic fatalities and one drowning this past Labor Day weekend.
Between 12:01 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, and midnight Monday, Sept. 4, Troopers investigated fatal traffic crashes in Blount, Wilcox and Chilton counties. All three of the individuals killed were driving vehicles equipped with seat belts; only one of the drivers was buckled up. Still, the weekend’s fatality total is 40 percent below the 2016 Labor Day weekend total, when Troopers investigated five traffic deaths.
Troopers in Marine Patrol investigated one drowning on Logan Martin Lake. They also investigated one drowning during the same holiday weekend the year before.
Nothing further is available as Troopers continue to investigate. Statewide totals are not available at this time.
